Cultural Activities

Some of the most important activities we have accomplished up till now are as follows:

From February 11 through February 18th, the exhibit of “Decorative Dolls” by the artist Neliza Nieto.

On February 26th, we celebrated a carnival night with groups of students from the Colegio Domínico Americano and a “fiesta criolla” (native party).

On March 11th, we celebrated “International Women’s Day” with a discussion by Mrs. Zoraida Heredia Vda. Suncar, Mrs. Louise Threan, and Ms. Susana Morillo.

In celebration of the “Día Internacional del Teatro”, Dr. Amarilis Rodríguez de Durán, Cultural Director, gave a talk about the Dominican theater. On that occasion, the plays “El Juego de Antero” and “Las Petunias Pisoteadas” were presented in the Auditorium by the Teatro Taller ICDA (ICDA Workshop Theater).

The evening of April 10th, a concert called “Themes from Famous Films”
Was presented, with the National System of Children’s and Teens’ Symphonic Orchestras, directed by Amaury Sánchez.

On Friday April 26th, the poetess Elmaz Abinader gave a talk about “The Tradition of Arab-American Literature”, in collaboration with Ms. Nicole Conn, Cultural Attachée of the American Embassy, and Ms. Merrie Blocker, Director of the Centro Franklyn.

Our activities for May will be as follows: The night of the 20th, a recital given by “Students of the Dominican Music Academy”, and the23rd the celebration of the “Mothers’ Day Concert”.
