The "Domínico-Americano",as Dominicans know it and refer to it, is a Bi-National Center.  It  was founded in 1947 by a group of Dominicans and of U.S. citizens who were then living in this country. Its goal was to strengthen cultural bonds and the ties of friendship between the peoples of the United States of America and of the Dominican Republic.

The ICDA’s mission is to encourage and carry out educational programs in general, and more specifically the teaching of English as a foreign language; to work towards a better development of the community it serves, and to promote knowledge, good understanding, and the intensification of the friendly relations between the Dominican Republic and the United States of America, as well as broadening the relationships and the cultural horizons of both the abovementioned peoples. In order to attain its objectives, the ICDA carries out different educational programs and cultural activities.

The Language School is part of the Instituto Cultural Domínico-Americano, a Bi-National Center which has as its end the teaching of the language and culture of the United States and the Dominican Republic. Our English Program is the oldest and most comprehensive EFL program in the Dominican Republic and in the Caribbean, and our Spanish as a Second Language program is the fastest-growing one in the country.
We offer English as a Foreign Language programs for children, pre-teens, adolescents, and adults. We also offer preparatory courses for the TOELF, and personalized services.
   
Colegio Domínico-Americano (CDA) [ see video ]
Offers all the levels of elementary school and high school in English. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) of the United States, and by the Secretaría de Estado de Educación (SEE –
Department of Education (of the Dominican Republic. It teaches Spanish as a first language, as well as Dominican history and civics.

UNICDA is the University of the Instituto Cultural Domínico-Americano (ICDA), and is its most recent educational program. It was authorized to operate through Presidential Decree no. 389-01, of March 20th 2001. It
offers programs at an associate’s level, at a bachelor’s level, and at the post graduate level. It also displays a vast program of up-to-date courses through its department of continuing education.
   
Pre-escolar (Pre-school) oooooooo0[ see video ]
The Domínico-Americano Pre-School (Pre-Escolar Domínico-Americano) is an institution of initial education, taught in English, which provides children of ages two to six with an integrated development in all their areas, in
a safe atmosphere where they can develop their human capacities in a holistic and harmonious manner.
The Cultural Department             [ see video ]
The Cultural Department of the ICDA has as its aim to strengthen the public image of the ICDA through diverse cultural events, to offer support to professional entertainers and to talented young artists; also, to
promote interaction between the American community in the Dominican Republic, the ICDA, and local the population.
    Managment Center (CG)
The Centro de Gerencia (Management Center) is a unit that offers academic support to personal, professional and business development, thus promoting academic excellence in all our programs, and
making possible the competition that is necessary for our professionals to enter the world market.
Abraham Lincoln Library        oo0[ see video ]
The Lincoln Library gives support to all the educational programs of the ICDA, and is open to the public. It has a Center for Audiovisual Resources (Centro de Recursos Audiovisuales – CRA). Both units take up a
space of 132 square meters and 22 square meters respectively. It houses 11,047 documents; it offers Internet service, and the loan of audiovisual materials.
    Exchange Programs
Is an academic and administrative unit that depends on the Cultural Department of the ICDA. It is in charge or coordinating and carrying out academic and cultural programs that are the result of agreements
with national and foreign institutions and universities.
Educational Counseling Office (ECO)
The Educational Counseling Office, known by its initials as ECO, offers information to all those who wish to study abroad in programs for an Associate’s degree, a Bachelor’s degree, and in graduate or postgraduate
studies. It offers the following computerized tests: The TOEFL, the GRE, the GMAT, the USMLE, etc. It also promotes educational and cultural exchanges, and administers the ICDA scholarships.
