Objectives:

The purpose of this intermediate level is to prepare professionals for positions in the tourism and hospitality industry, who can:

  • Acquire the knowledge and skills needed to organize and conduct activities to promote the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Gain knowledge of the structure of a hotel’s management system and implement the appropriate techniques to guarantee a satisfactory service in tourism
  • Develop the skills needed to implement the procedures and techniques used to carry out common activities in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Acquire the skills and abilities to successfully enter the job market and continue to develop personal initiatives


Graduate Profile:

  • Mastery of the systems, principles and theories of the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Ability to organize, manage and supervise hotel events and other events related to tourism
  • Possess important information about the historical and geographical highlights of the Dominican Republic
  • Skills in planning, management and analysis of promotional campaigns for tourism

Occupational Field:

Graduates of the Associate Tourism and Hotel Management Program can hold positions in the public and private sector, such as:

In the public sector:

  • Director of a folklore department under the Ministry of Tourism
  • Director or deputy director of an area in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Director or assistant for the Department of Tour Guides
  • Administrator of cafeterias or subcontracting services


In the private sector:

  • Assistant to the Director of a Travel Agency
  • Tour operator/ guide
  • Director of hotel lobby services, reservations and activities
  • Operations Assistant for an airline, cruise operator or transportation company
  • Operations Assistant for a travel agency
  • Travel agency or airline representative
  • Tour guide supervisor for a tour operator
